02/13/24 - more visits and stays, yay
And they visited again. Hang out a bit. And left. Repeat. The multiple visits and roosting behavior seen in the last day or so indicates this treehouse might fit her needs, or so I would like to believe given the actions. The visits are mostly before dawn and just after sunset, but some happen at odd times any time of day. When not on guard for harassing songbirds, she appears to be comfortable enough to settle in facing away from the opening, head down. She has also been seen calling with the low trill sound while in the house, the neck feathers ruffle when she does.
The first pic is from yesterday before dawn and catches her with an intense dilated look when she lands on the perch in the darkness. The exterior cam video shows an owl (him?) hanging out on the corner of the treehouse. This position, clutching the outside corner while surveying the yard below, is the same as my first sighting of the owl in November. The pic of it is in the first blog entry 1/1/24. Coincidence?
